But there's another way to look at practice. Practice can be that place you go to when there's chaos and unpredictability in your life. When so much is out of our control, we can return to a practice - a place where we have a map. We know what to do and the order in which to do it. It can be soothing. For me, I have a daily vocal meditation practice. I tune up my voice and I enter into the space of pure sound. I don't know what's coming next, but I know that if I listen to whatever drone I'm using that day - my shruti box or a tanpura - I can let my mind enter into that space. At that point, the voice will emerge from my heart and not my head. It's a beautiful practice, and it helps keep me grounded.
What is your practice? Where do you go to ground yourself? If you're looking for a practice, you can join us on the second Wednesday of each month at our group Sacred Cacao and Sound Healing, held at Mission Valley Acupuncture.
